What exactly is "Latent Semantic Indexing"

In the past, search engines were looking for an exact match to a keyword phrase, but now they are much more sophisticated. To improve the quality of their search results, the major search engines today use "Latent Semantic Indexing", also known as "LSI" to evaluate your pages and determine the topical focus. They are also using artificial intelligence with LSI to associate words and concepts. Now they examine all your OTHER words, in context with your keyword phrase, to determine your relevancy to each search.

As content recognition technology progresses, the old exact match approach to keyword optimization will fail. It is no longer enough to focus on a single keyword phrase when creating text for a web page. You must go much further, and focus on the content surrounding your keywords!

Today's search engines use LSI algorithms to examine a site's entire content, taking ALL your pages into account before they will award top ranking to any single page. To win top 10 ranking on your home page, all your sub pages need topic-relevant words in context to support your main key phrase. And your sub pages will also rank higher when they are supported by related words site-wide.

Exactly Prashant...

Well google had been using this LSI concept in its adsense... and now on the organic search listings too... well the basic thing is that when you do to many exact anchor text linkage then it finds some problem... make it variable... like for example... my keyword is..

"money making".. then i would use "income generation"... "internet income" ...etc
